Biography

Shannon Norris has represented a broad range of clients since he began practicing in 1993 in the areas of employment law, business litigation, trade secrets, civil fraud, and employee benefits.  During that time, he has represented Fortune 100 companies to small businesses and individuals.  Mr. Norris has extensive experience with employment litigation, noncompete agreements, misappropriation of trade secrets, and occupational fraud.  He is a regular speaker on topics relating to employment law, civil litigation, and human resources.

Mr. Norris began his career in 1993 at the law firm of Jones Day, where he was a member of the Labor & Employment Law Section.  He formed his own practice in the year 2000.  He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Representative Cases 

  • Obtained arbitration award in favor of enterprise software implementation firm in dispute involving claims for unpaid fees and counterclaims alleging that services were not performed according to industry standards.
  • Obtained summary judgment dismissing former employee’s claims for wrongful termination, breach of contract, negligence, and slander.
  • Obtained summary judgment and permanent injunction against former employee and employee’s new company for breach of noncompete and confidentiality agreement, misappropriation of trade secrets, and breach of fiduciary duty.
  • Coordinated forensics investigation and obtained injunctive relief to prohibit former employees and new employer from using or disclosing confidential information.
  • Negotiated settlement and permanent injunction for LLC against former member in lawsuit alleging fraud, misappropriation of corporate funds, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of operating agreement.
  • Obtained federal jury verdict in favor of employee asserting claims under Surface Transportation Assistance Act.
  • Advised employer in investigation of office manager for misappropriation of corporate funds.
  • Obtained summary judgment dismissing former employee’s claims for sexual harassment, retaliation, and breach of contract.
  • Obtained summary judgment dismissing former employee’s claims for race discrimination.
  • Resolved claims by former employees alleging failure to pay overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Part of a team of attorneys who negotiated and administered the settlement of a nationwide ERISA class-action lawsuit involving pension benefits.
